
11. Demystifying Energy Healing

Welcome back to another episode of the High Vibe Heather Podcast. I've been out for a while as I've been moving through some major life transitions, and I'm finally feeling settled in my new home. So I guess it was the very end of June, beginning of July.
About a month ago now, I moved into a one-bedroom apartment. My dream came true, living all by myself with my two kitties. And my youngest has now moved out on her own with a roommate into her own place.
And she took the dog. And, you know, it's just been a really big adjustment, settling into my new home and getting everything set up and just all of that goes along with that major transition. So I've really been enjoying myself.
So that's where I am, where I've been, and I'm feeling ready to get back into the swing of things. So I'm coming with a new episode of the podcast. And this is one of my favorite topics that I'm bringing you today to geek out on.
It's the topic of energy. And I am going to try to demystify the topic of energy because it's, you know, something that, at least in my world, I hear thrown around a lot, and it's taken me personally a really long time to come to a level of comprehension where I can begin to understand just what it is, what it means, how it works, how it applies to the human experience, and how we can manipulate it in order to better our experience here on this earth. I was first introduced to the concept of energy about seven years ago.
I had struggled with depression and anxiety off and on through much of my adult life. I was pretty regularly tired, moody, anxious, and I felt really stuck in my life. Without getting into all the details, I went through a whole series of events where life as I knew it was completely stripped away from me.
In retrospect, it was such a blessing, but in the moment, it was one of the most difficult times I have ever moved through. It was a time where I was forced to face myself and my life and all of the fears that were holding me back. I was pretty desperate and willing to try just about anything to ease my suffering.
And I'm sure a lot of you listening can resonate with that. I mean, that's why we turn to substances. It's why we try many different things to distract ourselves from just the pain of existing.
So that's where I found myself. And I had worked with doing some microdosing with LSD, and I found that that helped me a lot. I was working with the therapist.
I was doing everything in my power to my level of awareness that I could to help myself through this difficult time.
And someone had recommended, brought the idea into my awareness of energy healing. And I was just completely mystified.
Like, what is that? I've never heard of that. What are you talking about?
So I did some research of my own, and I ended up finding a local Reiki practitioner and started seeing her on a regular basis. I had a weekly standing appointment with her. I saw her every week for almost a year.
And the transformation that I went through from that experience was so profound. It lifted this weight. I can't even describe that I had been suffocating under, that just kept getting heavier and heavier.
And through these weekly sessions, just these little layers, these layers of this weight were lifted from me. And I remember leaving each of these sessions, just feeling pounds lighter in my spirit. And it was intoxicating, honestly.
It was better than any drug that I had experienced, the way that this left me feeling in my body. I didn't understand what was happening, but it deeply shifted the way that I felt and perceived my life. From that point forward, energy healing became an obsession for me because I wanted to understand how something so easeful and comforting was able to change my whole life.
So, what is energy? Well, the short answer is everything. We are made of energy.
Everything in the world is made of energy. Energy, in the simplest of definitions, is information that vibrates. If we look to quantum physics, energy is described as a quantity preserved after a transformation.
So, one of the fundamental principles of energy is that it cannot be created or destroyed, but rather change states. So, there's that transformation. The term energy is also equivalent to mass.
Every particle has a mass, which can be measured. There are different types of energy, but all energy is either potential or kinetic. Potential energy is stored energy, whereas kinetic energy is energy in motion.
The study of energy is where science and spirituality converge. Consciousness, which is the awareness of internal and external existence, the experience of both an inner world and an outer world, the world of thoughts, feelings, and perceptions, and the world of life here on the physical plane. So it's this awareness that both of these internal and external experiences are existing simultaneously.
And we are, as humans, and I believe many creatures, have an awareness of this experience. We have our own internal world, and yet we live in a physical 3D world.
So I was doing some research, and I found this amazing abstract called The Energy of Consciousness and Human Personality, written by S. Rama back in 1989, and it reads, "The universe is a dance of energies, which vibrate at many frequencies. They ebb and flow, merge and part, form ripples, tides, currents, eddies and whirlpools. They become units of all sizes, from atoms to stars, individual souls to cosmic beings. Again, they dissolve into each other. As rays, streaks, streams, rivers, oceans of light, they flow into each other and separate again, changing frequencies, and with this changing of frequencies, they become suns, galaxies, spaces, airs, winds, fires, liquids, solids. They become the bodies of human beings into which the energy called consciousness comes and is embodied."
So if consciousness is a form of energy, can it be measured? Well, emotional energy is related to consciousness with each emotion calibrating to a particular level of consciousness.
And in his book, Power vs. Force, Dr. David R. Hawkins lays out a map of consciousness that shows us the level that each emotion calibrates at from lowest to highest. So through kinesiological testing, he was able to quantify in a replicable way how different emotional energies are measured and how those then impact the body and our experience of existence.
It was found that the lowest level of consciousness is the emotion of shame. Calibrating at 20 versus the highest level of consciousness, enlightenment, calibrates anywhere from 700 to 1000. The experience of calibrating at a lower level of consciousness impacts you by allowing you access to lower levels of energy from which you can operate.
The different levels of calibrations of consciousness equate to different vibrational frequencies. The higher the vibration, the more energy you have available to you, the more you are able to do with your life. And this is where energy healing comes in.
Because energy is meant to flow. When energy is left unprocessed within your system, it becomes stuck. And stuck energy will very much affect how you feel.
And if you think about it, the emotion of fear is a way of being stuck. Fear keeps us stuck. Stuck energy will very much affect how you feel, the overall level of consciousness that you calibrate at, and the frequency that you vibrate at.
Therefore, stuck energy literally keeps you stuck at a lower level of experiencing life. Energy healing is the process of clearing the stuck energy or stagnant emotional energy from the body and the aura in order to allow the free flow of energy within your system. It's a way of raising the frequency of your vibration and giving you access to more energy so you can do more with your life.
So we have many different layers to our body. Most closely, we relate to the physical layer because it's through this layer that we experience our five senses of touch, taste, smell, hearing, sight. But beyond our physical body, we have this aura which is a biomagnetic field that extends out from the physical body and conveys information about what's taking place inside the body.
It relays this information through its connection to the chakra system, which is the body's energy system. So the aura can be likened to the atmosphere, the protective shield around the earth. And this is really fascinating if you think about it because it's an example of how things are replicated on the micro level and the macro level.
So we've got this, you know, earth that we live on that has this protective field around it called the atmosphere protecting us from the sun's harmful UV rays. Well, the aura acts very similarly. It's this protective field around our physical body that's meant to keep harmful energy from penetrating into the denser levels of the physical body.
The aura is made up of several layers of subtle energy fields. Each of them have a specific role, just like the atmosphere made up of several layers. Oh, I just love that.
It acts as a filter, keeping the energy from penetrating us at that physical level where we are most dense. So when harmful energy penetrates the aura and moves into the physical body, it manifests as a physical problem, oftentimes an illness.
It's easier to clear energy from the subtle fields than it is from the physical body, which is why energy healing is really like a hygiene practice, to keep your field clear, to keep your body functioning properly.
So this is something fascinating. Among these energy fields are the mental field through which we process ideas, thoughts, and beliefs, and the emotional field, which regulates our emotional state. So the mind does not exist in the brain, but rather it's a field that surrounds us.
And the brain is an organ that the subtle energy field of the mind is attached to. And that's like a small example of how the chakra system works. It connects our organs and glands to our energy field, and it relays this information through our nervous system back and forth between these inner and outer parts of us.
So each chakra is correlated to a specific or gland or organ in the body. When you work with a chakra system, you are healing at the most foundational level. And this is something that the ancients were aware of.
The ancient Hindu philosophers who were able to conceptualize and map these profound systems out and understand how energy moves in and through us, how it affects us, how we can manipulate it and work with it. This is not new information. It's been around for thousands and thousands of years.
And science is just now starting to catch up with the mystics. The subtle energy fields can be manipulated and worked with to regulate the flow of energy, which is also known as chi or prana or life force. All of these terms are synonymous.
Everything we do in life requires energy. Every interaction we have is an energetic exchange. When you become aware of this, and you start paying attention to the energy levels in your body, you'll start to notice what fills you up and what drains you.
And that's so key. We are meant to be filled up. And when we consistently put ourselves in situations where we are draining our energy, we are quite literally draining our life force.
And what do you think that does to your lifespan? Of course, it's going to shorten it. So anything we can do to fill our energetic system up, to clear it, to keep it running smoothly, just gives us more and more access to energy that we can use to live from.
We carry unprocessed energy around us, around in the tissues of our body, as well as in our auric fields. And this energy, this access energy, puts stress and tension on the body, the mind, and the spirit. It weighs on the nervous system, which is the body's communication system that carries information between the brain and every part of the body.
And someone with a frazzled nervous system, someone who's stressed out, is literally someone who's carrying around too much unprocessed energy. So we have ways of clearing that. We have ways of processing and moving that energy.
You may be familiar with this. One of the best ways to change your energetic state is through movement, which is why dance is such a powerful mechanism for shifting your mood or going for a run. Even animals instinctively know this as a part of their stress response to shake and release excess energy to help them calm their nervous system.
So it's like in modern times, we are doing so much wrong. We are like working against ourselves in so many ways, which is why I feel like we're having this renaissance, this period of coming back to these truths that the ancients knew. Ways of shifting our life force, bringing vitality back into our bodies, because sitting for hours staring at a computer isn't doing it.
So if consciousness is a measurable form of energy, and by raising our consciousness, we can raise the frequency of our vibration as an energetic being. And if by raising the frequency of our vibration, we have more energy available to us to do things with our life, then we start to get some clues around how we can give ourselves a better experience of existence at the most foundational level. And that's honestly why this excites me so much.
In my opinion, energy healing is like the greatest life hack. There are literally thousands of modalities or techniques for working with your energetic system. And it's just a matter of finding the ones that resonate with you.
I've experienced with many forms, and some of my favorites are Kundalini Yoga, Reiki, Sound Healing, Breathwork, and Human Design. Because all of these work to move stuck energy in the body, which is actually the subconscious mind. Yes, the body is the subconscious mind.
It's where we store everything that we've experienced. And over time, that gets to be a lot. And if we go meta on this, over lifetimes, that gets to be a lot.
It's such a simple way of helping ourselves move into a state in which we want to do what's best for ourselves and for the collective. We, as a species, all experience the same feelings, thoughts, attitudes. We are all susceptible to the weight of stress.
And it's a very real thing that weighs us down and keeps us from moving more into our purpose. So when we can use techniques to clear that stress from our bodies, from our minds, from our field, we not only perform better, we feel better. Our energetic exchanges with other people are better.
And we are doing our part as individuals to help raise the collective level of consciousness. So as you can tell, this is a topic I am extremely passionate about. I just find it endlessly fascinating.
And the more I learn about it, the more I'm like, why isn't everyone doing this? And so that's why it's become my work in the world to help people clear their energetic system, to live in attunement with their own energetic system. And I believe it's absolutely necessary as we continue to evolve for our own health and well-being that we bring these practices into our lives.
And what you do for yourself may look completely different than what I choose to do for myself. Like I said, there are literally thousands of different techniques that can be used to shift and move your energy. And this is such a vast topic, and I worked to do my best readers digest condensed version here.
But I believe it's important to understand, to be aware that you have an energy system, as it is to understand and be aware of your physical body, because it's that filtration system that is protecting our physical body, just like the atmosphere around the earth, and to increase your vitality, your well-being, your physical health, your mental health, your emotional health.
All of these are impacted by your energy, and you have tools available to you to begin to shift that into a higher frequency of vibration. You can give yourself more energy to work with, especially if you're feeling stuck in life, experiencing depression like I was, anxiety like I was.
I didn't go on any prescription drugs, and not to say that there's anything wrong with that. I mean, I believe everybody knows what's best for their own circumstance, and I'm not here to tell you what you need to do for yourself. But I was able to pull myself out of that through these practices.
I was able to shift the trajectory of my whole life and make better decisions for myself that were in line with what I actually wanted to create for myself. I was given the energy and the motivation to move towards what I want. I was able to let go of the fear that was keeping me stuck.
I was able to raise my level of self-worth and begin to comprehend my inherent value through releasing all of these heavy layers of stress that were burdening my subconscious. And this is available to anyone at any time.
And unless you're working with a practitioner currently, I hope this inspires you to start looking into or maybe researching some different energy practices and experimenting with ones that resonate with you and that you can find something that you want to keep coming back to again and again to raise your own vibration, to raise your own level of consciousness.
And the whole purpose behind doing that is to have more energy with which to do the things you want to do with your life, to benefit yourself as an individual and to benefit the collective of the human race as a whole. Thank you so much for listening. I hope you're enjoying your summer.
