9. Exploring a New Aspect of the Human Design System

ON THIS EPISODE
Hello, and welcome to the High Vibe Heather Podcast. It's been a couple of weeks since I've recorded an episode. Life has been very busy recently, and I had to take a pause.
There was literally nothing coming through that wanted to be said. So here I am after a nice little break, feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. And it's been really interesting noticing the cycles in which my energy works.
And maybe this is something you can relate to when you like really tune in and pay attention to your level of activity and your energy that corresponds to that.
So what I'm noticing for myself is I tend to move in these cycles where I spend a lot of time preparing for something to happen, doing research, getting things set up, planning, organizing, laying out the details. Then I go into what I would call this manifesting mode where I just do all of these activities back to back to back.
And then after I've moved through that and completed them, I need rest, I need downtime, and there's nothing inspiring or creative or exciting that wants to come through me. It's like the cycles of expansion and then contraction. It's the whole creative process where there's that downtime before and after something is created.
And that's all part of the process. We can't constantly be on. That's not how nature works.
And if you think about, take a seed, for example, when it's planted in the ground, we know that something is happening below the surface, buried down in the soil, the seed begins to germinate. And eventually that first sprout will push up through the soil and then begin to grow towards the sun. And then a flower or a fruit is produced, and then it's harvested, and the plant goes dormant again.
And that's how I feel my whole life works, really. And maybe that's the same for everyone, but it's been really interesting to just witness that happening as I pay attention to my own energy. So the month of May was just absolutely crazy, so much output required.
And I had a lot of fun doing all of these different activities, and I put myself out there in a lot of new ways, doing beginner things, and that took a lot out of me. I vended for the first time selling my services at a market. That was a whole new experience doing unique markets here in Portland.
I had an awesome time, so much fun. I got to meet so many people, and I didn't know how that experience would go, but it turns out I really loved it, and I'm so glad that I did that. I put on my first masterclass online in May, and again, that was my first time doing that.
And so that whole process was a lot. It was a lot to create the content, market the masterclass, then produce it, and then, you know, close it out and send the links and the emails, and just a lot of learning as I did over this past month.
Plus, aside from business, there's so much happening in my personal life with, you know, Sasha turning 19 and us deciding we were going to live separately, you know, when we move out of our current home.
And I found an apartment for myself, a one-bedroom. I signed the lease a couple of weeks ago. I get to move in, you know, some time in this next month.
I have a whole month of overlap between leases. So really, really excited about that. And I've been spending some of this downtime just really envisioning what I want this next stage of my life to look like.
And that's really exciting for me. And something that I'm wanting to experiment with is changing up my whole schedule, my whole lifestyle, because I'll be independent. I won't be living with anybody else.
I won't have to work around them, you know, with sharing spaces and getting up and going to bed and being mindful of another person. Plus I will no longer have a dog that I will be taking care of on a daily basis, as the dog will go with Sasha. And so just so much will be changing with that, that I'm really excited about.
Something that I got into over this last week when I ended up taking an entire week off from trying to do any sort of work on my business, continuing to like move things forward, because again, I was just completely depleted from all of the activity that the earlier part of the month required.
I spent that time just really taking care of myself. A lot of times sitting outdoors, just listening to the birds chirping and the wind moving through the trees, getting really still and quiet, going on long walks, meeting up with friends, working out, making yummy food.
It felt really good. And as each day passed, I found myself wondering how much longer is this going to last? I kept checking in like, am I ready today to get back into it?
And, you know, my body was literally like, no, I got nothing. So I'm working to collaborate with my own spirit and not force and pressure myself to be quote-unquote productive when I don't have the energy to be productive. And it goes against, you know, all of this conditioning that I have from my entire life up until now.
And it's a practice that I've been working to integrate more and more as I've been a single person and I'm no longer in, you know, a partnership where we kind of settled into these roles and expectations for one another.
So having the opportunity to do a complete reset and decide for myself, like, without anyone else having a say in, you know, how I spend my time or what I do with my energy or the expectations around that, what feels good to me, what feels authentic to me. And trusting that as I follow that, that my life will be more easeful and more enjoyable.
I will experience less and less resistance. And man, this has been such a journey to commit myself to. But back to what I started saying a bit ago, something that I've gotten into over this past week while I was taking that downtime was the primary health system portion of human design, which involves these what are called variables.
I've had enough clients ask me about this now where I've gotten really curious and I'm like, okay, I am just going to look into it. I'm going to learn up on it. I'm going to study it and learn it for myself so that in time I can start to share this with clients.
So I always find it's important for me to integrate the information into my own life before I start teaching it to someone else because I need to have that experiential wisdom and understanding of it to prove it out. And then, you know, after I've done that, then I feel a lot more confident in sharing it with other people. So it's pretty wild.
It talks about really the variables are about your awareness. And so there's these four arrows on your chart that will either point left or right or any combination of that. And this is based on your profile, which is the line numbers for your conscious and unconscious son.
And it's also based on your north and south nodes. And so I am going to, as they recommend, I'm going to start with the variables or the arrows on the left side of the chart because those are the ones that are related to the unconscious, which is the body. And so it's a matter of fine tuning how the body or the vehicle works in order to shape your cognition.
And from what I've learned that when you eat, so it's related to your digestion and your environment specifically on the left-hand side.
So, you know, when you fuel your vehicle in the way that it will best digest and you put it in your body, you know, the vehicle in the right environments where it feels the most at home, then it allows your mind to work in a new way. It unlocks new gifts, the potential for new ways of thinking and seeing the world.
It broadens your awareness. So it was really interesting to learn about this for myself because I have a line six on my unconscious side. And so regarding digestion, that upper left arrow, mine is pointing to the right.
And arrows pointing to the right are more energies that are passive and open, intuitive, patient, team oriented, subjective. So these are more of the, like, what we would call feminine energies. And what I've found to be really interesting about the Digestion 1 in particular is that I am meant to digest after dark.
And I've never even thought about that before. Like, what an interesting thing to do. It's so against the grain of everything I've ever done in my life.
I've always eaten during the daylight, when I'm up, when I'm awake, and I have keep hours. I wake up earlier in the morning and I go to bed at a pretty normal time. But to see that I'm meant to be eating after the sun has gone down and before it rises is so curious because in order to do that, I would have to shift my entire schedule, my entire routine, the way I move through each day.
And so that's something that I am excited to experiment with when I do move out on my own. Another thing regarding the digestion is that I am meant to make my own food because the tactile nature of it, the preparation apparently, aids in the digestive process by being hands on and making my food with my own hands.
It prepares my digestive system by helping me to create the right enzymes and preparing me to take in the food and digest it in the most efficient and effective way so that I am absorbing the nutrients at the highest capacity. Also very interesting.
And then another factor around the digestion was, and this one was really bizarre to me, was that I'm also meant to eat with my hands, so not using utensils. And I'm not really sure how that's going to look.
So I've been just kind of starting to play with this a little bit at home now, and I'm like, okay, how do I get this food to my mouth? Do I, you know, scoop it up with a chip? Do I eat sandwiches?
You know, it's just like silly little things like that that I'm like, okay, it's all just an experiment. I can try it for a month, three months, and just see what happens. And maybe, just maybe, this will be the best thing ever for me.
Or maybe it will make no difference, and I'll be tired and cranky, and I'll just go back to how I was living before. But if you think about like how we eat and how we digest food, it's such a foundational aspect of our nature, of our lives. Like everything revolves around our cycles of eating, because it's such a necessary aspect to keeping us alive.
So I'm really excited to just play with that and see what comes about. So then when we go down, still on the left hand side of the chart, to that lower arrow, again, it could be facing left or right, minus again, facing right, which are these more feminine type of energies. This arrow is in regards to environment.
And environment describes what kind of setting you feel most comfortable in. Your body feels most comfortable in, will work the best in. So for me, it's caves.
So caves sounds kind of crazy. Of course, I'm not going to go live in a cave. I live in the 21st century in a city.
So it's interesting to see how the environment of a cave corresponds to modern living. And from what I've gathered to be in a cave-like environment, you only have one entrance and exit so that you can control the passage of people in and out of the space without being surprised at people coming at you from different directions.
And that's especially important when sleeping and also especially important for my work environment.
Another thing I picked up on this is that I'm meant to be working more one-on-one with people versus in a group setting. And instead of seeing people on a cyclical basis where there's multiple appointments where they're coming back to me over and over, I'm meant to be more of a one-off kind of project.
We collaborate together on something. We work through one particular thing, and then we're finished. And I move on to the next person. So just all of these little nuances that are really fascinating that I'm going to start to play with and take into account.
And it's interesting to know how much of this that I intuitively already knew about myself and recognize that, yeah, that just feels right. Another thing about this environment aspect is that I am not somebody who wants to be in the energy of other people all the time. I need alone time, and that's something that I've definitely known about myself.
And I think another factor in this is that my conscious sun is in gate one, the gate of creativity. But the nuance to that is that it's in line four. And line four is called the artist alone.
So my creativity flows best when I'm in my own energy. And that's something I've always known, which is why I just need to be alone when I'm doing my work. I don't do well if I have to like sit down and crank something out and there's other activity happening around me.
I lose my focus very easily. So diving into these variables is number one, validating some things for me that I already intuitively knew, but also like bringing in some new aspects of how I'm meant to operate that I didn't know.
And it's going to be a fun experiment to play with, and I'll definitely keep you updated as I begin and see how things go.
So I'll be shifting my sleeping cycle when I eat, how I eat, and we'll see how it goes. So once I get this information really integrated into my own life, I would love to then help other people if I find it valid and useful in setting up their body, their vehicle in the right way so that they are also living in alignment with how their energy is intended to work the best.
So it's really just all about calibrating, calibrating and fine tuning your system so that you are in alignment.
And when you are in alignment, the resistance and the conditioning falls away. And that's something that we're always working with. We can't help but be conditioned by our environments and the people in them.
And the more openness you have in your design, the more prone you are to that conditioning influence. So as somebody who has a lot of openness in my chart, I'm really excited to see another layer deeper of who I am authentically without the conditioning influence as I go through this process of deconditioning through focusing on adjusting my digestion and environment variables.
So that's all I have for you today. I hope all is well in your world.
And if you have new questions about your own charts and your own variables and what all that means, hit me up and I'll help you look into it. I'm excited to explore this new aspect of human design as I just find it such a fascinating system that we can anchor our lives into in order to live in a way that is more easeful as individuated human beings.
